Management theories

Management theories are designed to maximize the shareholder value and this is going too far. Even the best of the leaders including HR professionals working for maximizing the shareholder value and the employee welfare takes a back stage. The best organization & the CEO' s are the ones who get the best of the team and team members do the best they can, ignoring their personal well being. Time that the we take cognisance of that and create the necessary balance.

Top 10%

What do you do to retain your top 10% of your employees. They set the benchmarks which drives the rest of the 90% of the employees. Here is an organization which says that their attrition is low and they don't pay well. There is no difference between top and average performer, people stay here for years and loyalty is termed as the number of years you stay in that organization. It continued to lose most of the top 10% and the balance became average performers because there is no reason for them to perform. Result is that the benchmarks are far lower than the competition and the entire organization got into a spiral of bad performances resulting in lower pay and further exodus of best performers.

First find a way out to identify the top 10%, some of them are hard workers, consistent performers, some of them are rebels, disruptors. Then find a way to retain them and finally find a way to get the best out of them.

And the top 10% also holds good for the customers and  your entire supply chain. What are we doing about it..
